Overview
We are looking for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to work within our small team in the Heart Centre and alongside the expanding Cardiology department. The Heart Centre carries out coronary angiograms and a variety of cardiac device implants as well as specialist echocardiography services.
You will be involved in the preparation of patients for these services, assisting consultants with the procedures, scrubbing within a sterile environment and recovering the patients after the procedures. The post holder will be a member of the nursing team and adhere to high professional standards of patient care and effective service delivery within the Heart Centre.
The post holder will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the Cardio-Respiratory department and with those in other departments including the general ward areas. From time to time, work may be required within the Cardio-Respiratory department.
Responsibilities
* Prepare patients for interventional cardiac procedures and echocardiography services.
* Assist consultants with procedures and scrub within a sterile environment.
* Post-procedure recovery and ongoing patient care through the patient journey from pre-assessment to discharge.
* Work as part of a small, multidisciplinary team and demonstrate enthusiasm for all things cardiac.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills and collaborative working with the Cardio-Respiratory team and other departments.
* Support high standards of patient care and efficient service delivery within the Heart Centre.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Band 5 Registered Nurse (adult or appropriate clinical registration).
* Interest and enthusiasm for cardiology and cardiac care.
* Ability to work well in a small team and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
