About The Role

School Crossing Patrol Officer – Danbury Park Community School, Well Lane, Danbury CM3 4AB. Permanent, part time.

Pay: £13.00 per hour.

Location: Danbury. Working style: operational field‑based worker.

Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations. We are looking for a punctual, reliable individual who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.

This position is for approximately 7.5 hours per week, with a holiday pay element included. You will need to work during the 39 weeks of the academic year, for 45 minutes between 08:00‑09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45‑15:45 in the afternoon, depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment and training will be provided.


Responsibilities

* Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility‑impaired people using the crossing point.
* Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
* Regularly assess risks associated with operating at the crossing site to identify problems, and report problems and defects to the supervisor.
* Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure‑to‑stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
* Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition, and request replacements when needed.
* Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic, ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.

Additional Commitment

Applicants must be mobile throughout an operational area, possess a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or meet the mobility requirements through other means. DBS checks may be required, and successful candidates will need to register with the DBS update service.
