A reputable global manufacturer of cutting tools is seeking an experienced and driven Area Sales Engineer to grow and support customers across the South East. This is a key commercial role for a self‑starter with strong technical understanding of metal cutting and machining processes, ideally gained within aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, or precision engineering environments.
You’ll be responsible for developing new business, strengthening existing relationships, and delivering sustainable sales growth across a high‑potential region.
Key Responsibilities
* Track, manage, and report on sales performance, ensuring targets are consistently achieved.
* Maintain and expand business with existing customers, including key accounts in the cutting‑tool sector.
* Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities across the region.
* Prepare quotations and follow up to secure orders.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to meet customer requirements and deliver technical solutions.
* Develop and execute strategic plans to increase market penetration and regional sales performance.
* Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events.
About You
* Time‑served engineer or strong technical background in machining, metal cutting, or related industries.
* Experience in aerospace, oil & gas, or automotive sectors is advantageous.
* Proven sales experience with the ability to build trust and credibility quickly.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and a resourceful, proactive approach.
* Competent with IT systems and sales reporting tools.
* Excellent communication skills with confidence presenting to customers and groups.
* Self‑motivated, organised, and able to work independently.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South East.
