We are seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our ambitious and forward‑thinking team as Programme Leader in Animal Nursing at Northumberland College's Bede Campus, Sunderland.
This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinary nursing professional who is passionate about developing the next generation of animal care practitioners while maintaining flexibility alongside other professional commitments. The role is ideally suited to a practising veterinary nurse looking to combine industry expertise with a rewarding teaching and leadership opportunity.
As Programme Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a high‑quality Animal Nursing curriculum, inspiring students to achieve their full potential and progress into successful careers within the veterinary sector. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates initiative, professionalism and a commitment to excellence, with the confidence to lead and continuously develop a dynamic programme.

About the Role
* The role is 0.2 FTE (1 day per week) and based at the Bede Campus.
* The campus houses an extensive animal unit.
* The curriculum also utilises a local commercial farm resource.
* Professional development opportunities are included.
Role Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, sequential learning through career focused schemes of learning.
* Provide an excellent experience to students through exemplary learning, teaching and standards of assessment.
* Teach students to high standards using appropriate and varied student‑centred approaches, embracing learning technologies to enhance the student experience.
* Actively engage in reflective practice and contribute to the wider professional development programme.
* Liaise effectively with the wider support team to ensure appropriate and high‑quality academic support is provided as required.
* Participate in college recruitment and marketing events where required.
Qualifications
* Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent (or willing to work towards).
* Level 2 Mathematics.
* Experience of teaching in the FE sector.
* Experience of working with young people in an educational setting.
* Experience of planning and delivery of animal management sessions.
* Experience of keeping records of student progress against achievements.
* L6 qualification in a relevant subject.
