Radiology Assistant, Breast Imaging

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, reliable and highly motivated individual to join our dedicated Breast Imaging team. The role is predominantly based at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, although there is a requirement to support the courier role in the community, taking essential equipment to mobile screening units.
Shift pattern to work hours flexibly over 6 days (Monday to Saturday), working between the hours of 08:30hrs to 16:30hrs and 09:00hrs and 17:00hrs.
You will be part of a large clinical team, providing support to patients undergoing breast diagnostics. You will be working alongside Consultants, Nurses, Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and other Radiology Assistant. Duties involve assisting with patient care before, during and after imaging examinations, cleaning of scan rooms, stock control and replenishment, supporting the specimen checking process and courier duties.

Main duties of the job
It is essential the successful candidate enjoys working with people and has a genuine interest in patient care. You must have excellent communication skills, work well as part of a team, but also have the ability to use your initiative and work individually.
The post holder would be responsible for a range of different roles to support the smooth running of the department. Main duties involve receiving and preparing the patients for procedures, chaperoning clinical staff and supporting the patient through different procedures. Ensuring that the biopsy specimens have been checked and taken to their collection point as well as responsibilities for ordering supplies and undertaking stock checks. Patient confidentiality always needs upholding along with a consistent demonstration of compassion.
The role involves ensuring that the environment is clean and tidy, maintaining concordance with the Trust infection control standards. Data entry under the guidance of clinical staff is also a key part of the role.
Duties will be undertaken at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire in accordance with local protocols. There may be occasions where it is necessary to support the courier role and therefore a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
