Are you a passionate Health Care Assistant looking to work nights only? Join our Dorset Integrated Urgent Care Service (DIUCS) as part of our supportive Community Night Nursing team!

You will be joining a fantastic team within the Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service to support and assist Community Night Nursing during overnight mobile visits to patients in their own homes.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be working in pairs with a registered nurse always as part of a supportive and collaborative unit. You will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families and carers, assisting the registered staff in the assessment of health needs and delivery of care, sharing the driving of the IUCS vehicles across Dorset, working in the community, residential or in healthcare environment. The vehicles are stocked with essential nursing equipment, including catheters, wound dressings, palliative care stock.

We are offering a part-time post of 34.5 hours per week, 20.00 to 08.00 over 3 nights. We welcome part-time applications with a minimum of 23 hours per week over 2 nights. Rota patterns can be discussed at interview stage. A full valid UK driving license is essential for the role.

Main duties of the job

To assist registered staff in the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, for a number of individuals or groups of patients, including clinical risk assessment.

To exercise a reasonable and agreed degree of autonomy and make judgements and decisions in order to satisfy the expectations and demands of the job.

To undertake Clinical work and related tasks as delegated by registered nursing staff, following appropriate training and assessment of competency.

To undertake clinical supervision in line with Trust policy, to further develop competence and clinical practice.

To liaise effectively with all stakeholders in the care process.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Person specification


EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

* Care Certificate / equivalent NVC Level 3 or ability to work toward
* Numerate and literate
* Car driver is essential requirement of the post


EXPERIENCE

* Previous Community or similar care environment
* Working with adults of all ages


SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

* Able to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood)
* Able to work as part of a team, or on own and manage own time
* Willingness to acquire and utilise other skills for the development of the service.
* Has respect for the difference values, cultures and beliefs of the patients


Knowledge

* Understanding or working with other agencies/multidisciplinary working
