Role Overview
As an Unit Lead, you are part of the management team alongside the Home Manager & the Deputy Manager. The role comprises mainly of providing care with assigned supernumerary time to complete management tasks and ensuring the shift is well led. You will support both day and night shifts, be present for handovers, and play a key part in maintaining the quality of care provided.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct care to residents, including personal hygiene, dressing, and assistance with meals.
* Caring for residents’ physical, psychological, and social needs.
* Support management functions such as supervision, observation, rota planning, medication audits, and end‑of‑month medication administration.
* Attend staff meetings and contribute to operational planning.
* Maintain personal and professional development; participate in relevant training and support staff development.
* Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are understood and upheld, reducing risk of abuse or neglect.
* Adhere to safeguarding, whistle‑blowing, fire procedures, and health and safety legislation.
* Complete all required training as determined by the home.
Qualifications
* Good communication skills to interact with residents, families, and the management team.
* Previous experience working in a care home environment is desirable but not essential.
* Committed and organised approach.
* Flexible to work shifts, including weekends.
