Job Description - Café Assistant Manager

Hull Minster has embarked on a new venture; After a multi-million-pound development and the creation of a new hospitality and Heritage facility, Trininty Room is a new high-quality café, with a fresh vibrant menu, delectable cakes, lovely coffees, accompanied by a strong community focus. The café endeavours to meet the needs of the visitors to Hull Minster as well as that of the surrounding residents, and businesses of Hull's Old Town.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to partner with the Commercial Manager in the day to day running of Trinity Room at Hull Minster.

Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of how a busy café runs efficiently whilst maintaining food quality and safety control measures and HACCP.

The desire for incredible customer service matched by a desire to succeed in the knowledge that the profits are feeding back into the church for its mission and outreach work.

Responsibilities/requirements:

Provide excellent customer service

Support, motivate and guide our employed and volunteer team members alike,

Opening and clean down/closing duties including handling cash,

Understand adhere to and administer all HACCP/Fire/health & safety protocols

Use Epos till systems,

Be computer literate, (familiar with Microsoft office and various social media platforms)

Deal with telephone and email queries

A basic understanding of costs, budgeting, and ordering,

A basic understanding of social media marketing,

Basic food preparation and service,

Preparation of beverages and service,

Proven ability to stand in for the manager in their absence.

Be personable with a sense of humour with the ability to connect with people on all levels.

Job Title: Cafe Assistant Manager

Location: Hull Minster

Reports to: Cafe Manager

PURPOSE OF JOB

To assist in the management of the Café and optimise profit, whilst remaining consistent with its Christian ethos and community focus. To step in for the manager in their absence.

WORKING HOURS

22.5 hours per week.

The Job Holder will be expected to work flexibly within the opening hours of the cafe, including weekends and bank holidays. There is scope for hours to increase in due course as the cafe grows

REMUNERATION

£13.10

The Management Committee reserves the right to change or update the Job Description from time to time in agreement with the Post Holder.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The success of the Cafe is dependent on the effectiveness of the management. The whole operation must present a friendly and welcoming environment in which customers and volunteers alike feel comfortable, enjoying excellent service.

While receiving guidance from the Director of Operations, the successful development of the Café will depend to a large extent on the imagination, initiative and energy of the management team.

A combination of flexibility, enthusiasm, innovation and sound organisational skills is essential.
