Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30, and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31, per annum / £17.31 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
To work within a team, assisting the Senior Early Years Practitioner and Early Years Practitioner in the planning and delivery of a flexible, high quality early learning and childcare service. Meet individual needs of children and their families, ensuring their wellbeing and improving outcomes for all service users.
As an ELC SW in Orchard Brae School Developmental Nursery you will be supporting children with a range of significant, severe and complex additional support needs. The nursery is a split site, Orchard Brae at Howes Road Nursery is located within Orchard Brae School and Orchard Brae at Ashgrove Nursery is located at the Ashgrove Children's Centre, Gillespie Place. As an ELC SW within Orchard Brae School Nursery you will be expected to be in engaged, and involved in, supporting and working together with your Early Years Team to deliver an effective early learning and childcare service for all our children. Applicants must show experience of working with children with additional support needs.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
1. SVQ Level 2 Social Services – children and young people at SCQF Level 6 (or willing to work towards)
2. Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC
3. PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
4. Ability to relate to children, parents, carers and other professional colleagues
5. Experience of communicating effectively, including non-verbal, verbal and written forms of communication
