We have an exciting opportunity for Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Kirkham, a category D Prison located in Kirkham, Preston.

We are looking for someone to support and coordinate a small team by managing planning, overseeing coordination and supporting junior team members.

The prison has it s own Healthcare department where you will be based and the primary care team consists of a team of 10

HMP Kirkham is a capacity of 700 males.

Hours:

The role full time 37.5 hours per week Monday - Sunday, there are various shifts covering:

* Monday - Friday 37.5
* Various shifts to cover between 8am-7pm
* Occasional weekends on rotation as required

Salary:

This position is part time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £33,232 - £40,211, depending on experience

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

* Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
* Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic
experiences and may be distressed
* Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
* You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
* Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
* You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
* Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams
and supporting each other to do a great job.

Qualifications required:

* Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
* Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
