Overview
NHS Scotland is hiring a Screening Officer to join the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme at Kings Cross Hospital in Dundee. This full-time, permanent role involves supporting the National Bowel Screening Helpline and handling administrative duties. A future relocation to Ninewells Hospital may be required.
Key Details
* Location: Kings Cross Hospital, Dundee (possible future relocation to Ninewells)
* Salary: £25,694–£27,900 per annum (Band 2, pro rata)
* Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday–Friday (rotational helpline coverage 8am–5pm)
* Contract Type: Permanent
* Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible under Home Office guidelines
Responsibilities
* Answer telephone calls, emails, and letters from screening participants
* Collate data from Health Boards and GP practices
* Perform general office duties and data input
* Maintain accurate records and support helpline operations
* Work independently and as part of a team
Requirements
* Previous experience in call handling and data entry
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Friendly, professional manner and interpersonal skills
* Willingness to learn and work without direct supervision
* Knowledge of healthcare environments (preferred but not essential)
* Must meet Healthcare Support Worker Induction standards and Code of Conduct
Additional Information
* NHS Scotland will reduce the full-time working week to 36 hours from April 2026 with no change in pay
