English Teacher (Years 7-11) – Specialist SEN School
Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Long‑term or Permanent Salary: MPS
A specialist school in Dibden is seeking an English Teacher who can bring creativity, patience and adaptability to a setting where pupils need far more than a standard classroom experience.
The school supports pupils aged 7-16 with a wide range of complex needs, including SEMH, ASC, communication differences, attachment‑related needs, and school‑based anxiety. Many pupils arrive with disrupted educational journeys, and the school’s mission is to rebuild confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging.

Your Role
This role is ideal for an English Teacher who enjoys thinking differently about curriculum and engagement. You will:
6. Teach English across Years 7-11, adapting content for pupils working at a wide range of levels
7. Support learners working toward Entry Level, Functional Skills or GCSE pathways
8. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may present with emotional or behavioural challenges
9. Create a classroom environment that is structured, predictable and genuinely nurturing
10. Work closely with therapists, support staff and pastoral teams to ensure a joined‑up approach

What You’ll Need
15. Right to work in the UK
16. QTS with English specialism or strong English‑teaching experience
17. Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or KS4
18. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
19. References covering the last 24 months
Preferential Experience
20. Experience working with SEND, particularly pupils with complex needs
21. Confidence delivering English to learners working significantly below age‑related expectations
22. Experience in specialist, alternative or therapeutic settings
23. Understanding of SEMH, trauma‑informed approaches and behaviour support
