Financial Controller
Are you a hands-on and commercially focused Financial Controller seeking an exciting opportunity in the luxury goods space?
Do you have a finance related retail industry background in a multi-site, multi-channel organisation?
Are you a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with the ability to inspire and lead a small and talented team of finance professionals?
MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a luxury brand with a superb heritage, on the search for a commercially astute and technically excellent Financial Controller. This is a permanent role with hybrid working opportunities (2 or 3 days a week WFH), based in central London.
As Financial Controller you will report into the Finance Director whilst also leading and managing a team of 3 direct reports. This role is absolutely crucial as the business looks to expand its retail presence in the UK whilst developing and evolving the brand.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Finance Director in the achievement of Finance Department goals
* Support and develop the business decision making process with proactive financial and commercial due diligence
* Manage the monthly management accounts cycle
* Manage year end processes including statutory accounting requirements
* Manage year end audit with external auditors for all entities
* Own the coordination and preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts
* Prepare financials for the 3/5 year plan
* Overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts with commentary.
* Analysing variances and providing insights to support commercial decisions.
* Collaborating with sales and merchandising teams to enhance business performance.
* Producing analytical commentary for the Board of Directors.
* Ensuring accuracy of reconciliations and maintaining strong controls.
* Managing the year-end stock take process and audit.
* Producing statutory accounts for the group and subsidiaries.
* Coordinating annual budgets and reforecasts.
* Analysing variances and contributing to board packs.
* Assisting with forecasting needs and building financial models.
* Overseeing other management reporting and coordinating turnover rent reporting.
* Reviewing VAT and sales tax processes.
* Working with insurance brokers to ensure appropriate insurance coverage.
* Overseeing stock count process and reporting.
* Ensuring integrity of stock values and cost prices.
* Providing day-to-day support and management of the team.
* Conducting performance management and appraisals.
* Supporting team members in process improvement.
What are we looking for?
* CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified – essential
* Experience with full ownership of the month end and year end close of the books process – essential
* Advanced Excel skills – essential
* Retail industry background, preferably with a multi-site, multi-channel organisation – essential
* Knowledge of SAP financial module is ideal
* Self-starter, ability to work under own initiative
* Adaptable to change and proactive in identifying and implementing process efficiencies
* Ability to manage and develop a small team
* Ability to partner with non-finance functions
