Location: Oak Farm and based on site with travel to various commercial and domestic locations.
Working hours: 7:30am-4:30pm
Salary: £19,000
About the Role
Lake and Co. are looking for their first ever Apprentice to support their ongoing growth. The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled floor layers.
You will learn how to prepare subfloors, install a wide range of commercial and domestic flooring products, and work safely and professionally on construction sites and customer premises. The role combines practical on-site work with structured training delivered by a specialist training provider.
Key Responsibilities
During the apprenticeship you will learn to:
* Assist with subfloor preparation, including screeding, levelling and installing plywood.
* Support the installation of different floor coverings including vinyl, carpet tiles, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), safety flooring and impervious and textile flooring.
* Safely handle, transport and store flooring materials, tools and equipment.
* Assess and test existing floor surfaces, including checking moisture levels, temperature and subfloor condition before installation.
* Help plan flooring installation work, including preparing materials and understanding project requirements.
* Measure and estimate materials needed for flooring projects.
* Work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and customer service.
* Follow all relevant Health & Safety procedures on construction sites and in occupied buildings.
* Work as part of a team to complete flooring projects.
Training and Development
You will work towards the Level 2 Textiles & Impervious Flooring learning will be through the training provider, Floorskills.
Training will include:
* Practical on-site learning with experienced floor layers
* Block Training with the training provider for a full week, on a bi-monthly basis. xsngvjr
* Development of industry knowledge, installation techniques and safe working practices
This combination of training and real-world experience will help you build the skills required to become a qualified floor layer.
