Role Overview
Do you want to lead and deliver important and innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding and enhance the environment?
We are seeking Project Managers to join our Programme & Contract Management (PCM) team in a key role within our integrated project teams, responsible for managing projects as the Client project manager.
You will prioritize health, safety, and the environment in project delivery. Applying strong commercial understanding in project, contract, and risk management, you will oversee the project from initial strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, implementation, construction, and handover.
Decisions will be made in consultation with technical leads, following governance procedures, project assurance, and legislation.
You will foster a collaborative environment, establishing effective relationships with suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists, statutory authorities, landowners, and local communities to negotiate agreements, approvals, and external funding.
Responding to incidents is a core part of our work. You will be expected to participate in incident response and provide business continuity support. Training and flexible arrangements will support you in this role.
The Team
Our PCM team aims to create a better environment through excellent project and programme management. The North East PCM hub, led by a Delivery Manager, supports 70-120 staff including Programme Specialists, Managers, and Project Team Managers, managing flood and coastal erosion risk projects using framework suppliers.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proficiency in MS Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Project)
* Proactive problem-solving skills
* Effective communication with diverse audiences
* Understanding of health, safety, and wellbeing management
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
* Experience in project delivery and/or contract management, especially in engineering, construction, or flood & coastal risk management
* Experience with MS Projects, SharePoint, project/contract management software
* Degree in engineering, environmental science, geography, or related field
* Working towards professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, APM, CIWEM)
* Knowledge of asset management, business case development, cost monitoring, engineering design, or carbon reduction
