Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with extensive theatre and peri‑operative nursing experience and leadership skills, who is highly motivated, energetic and driven. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Divisional Triumvirate teams and Director of Nursing. They will professionally and clinically support the leadership of the nursing workforce for allocated service areas.

The post holder is responsible for the provision of safe, quality and effective services and for day-to-day operational management of the services within their remit. They will ensure that Theatre and Peri-operative Medicine services provide the highest standards of professional practice, budgetary and performance management, and service improvement. The role drives quality to ensure outstanding patient care remains at the heart of all we do.

We are seeking an inspirational leader who can provide strategic vision, clinical expertise, and drive and influence change, supporting the operational and strategic portfolio. They must have a demonstrable record of success in change management, service improvement, and reduction of harm.

The post holder will provide forward-thinking clinical and professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels within their service group, ensuring nursing care is delivered to a high standard and that nursing resources are managed effectively. They will contribute to the implementation of the nursing and midwifery strategy, ensuring achievement of its objectives and proactively modernising nursing roles to meet patient needs. They will undertake key functions of the Modern Matron role, ensuring the patient experience in wards and departments is of the highest possible standard, with a focus on dignity and compassion.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Service Clinical Director and Service General Manager to develop strategic direction and policy framework, ensuring effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained. They will support the service’s contribution to corporate objectives and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage theatre and peri-operative nursing services.

• Ensure compliance with clinical standards, quality, safety and risk-management processes.

• Manage budgets, performance data and service improvement initiatives.

• Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff.

• Drive service quality and patient experience improvements.


Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive theatre and peri-operative nursing experience.

• Leadership experience with a record of change management and service improvement.

• Proven ability to manage budgets, performance and governance.

• Commitment to inclusive practice and patient-centred care.
