Overview
Mechanical Fitter role at TieTalent in South Devon. The company is a medium-sized, independently owned business with an international market for its leading power generation solutions. The role is based on the shop floor within the Assembly team and involves mechanical installation for gas turbine power generation systems, with projects tailored to customer requirements.
Responsibilities
* Read and follow engineering drawings and procedures to confirm all installation requirements have been met.
* Install mechanical systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
* Fit equipment including gas turbine engines, gearboxes, generators, and motors.
* Carry out precision alignment of engines, generators, gearboxes, and other equipment using precision tooling and measuring equipment.
* Fabricate and install small bore pipework using hand, electric and CNC tube benders. (Training provided)
* Provide mechanical support to other departments to meet operational needs.
* Assist with testing of gas turbine engines.
* Use a variety of mechanical lifting techniques and equipment (Overhead gantry crane, slinging, chain hoists, hydraulic jacks, etc). Training provided.
* Carry out repairs on equipment, tooling, and machinery, including full diagnostic investigation, selection of parts, repair and final checks as directed by coordinator.
About You
* Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Qualification minimum (NVQ/BTEC/City & Guilds).
* Experience of general mechanical fitting in a comparable industry (e.g., aerospace, marine, automotive, or heavy plant).
* Competent with hand and power tools including power drills and electric saws.
* Competent in using measuring equipment including micrometres and DTIs.
* Excellent attention to detail.
