SEMH Teaching Assistant (Year 5 - 1:1 Support) Location: Bournville, B30 Weekly Rate: £480-£525 Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Contract: Long Term to Permanent Long Term Futures are recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in Bournville (B30). This full-time role will focus on supporting the child both in lessons and with emotional regulation throughout the school day. The successful candidate will offer consistency, patience and calm guidance, using a nurturing and trauma-informed approach to help the child engage positively in learning and develop emotional resilience. The Role: Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs Support the pupil's learning in lessons, adapting tasks where needed Help with emotional regulation using agreed strategies and interventions Build a consistent, trusted relationship to promote emotional safety Encourage participation, independence and positive behaviour Recognise signs of dysregulation and intervene calmly and effectively Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals The Ideal Candidate: Level 2/3 TA qualification (or equivalent) At least 1 year's experience working in a primary school setting Experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs Skilled in trauma-informed practice and regulation strategies Calm, emotionally resilient and confident in a 1:1 setting Flexible and responsive to individual needs Committed to inclusion, communication and teamwork Why Join Long Term Futures?
