PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £29,000 to £35,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the world leading BBC Studios Natural History Unit to support the technical delivery of an exciting new wildlife series. As Assistant Technical Producer, you will play a key role in supporting field and studio camera teams, bringing your strong knowledge of photographic techniques used in wildlife production to help capture outstanding natural history sequences.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
* Ensuring all technical equipment is prepared, maintained and operated safely for the camera teams on location or in the studio.
* Assist with the setup, operation and derig of specialist wildlife filming equipment, including high speed cameras, macro rigs, remote camera traps, low light systems and long lens setups.
* Apply strong knowledge of photographic techniques relevant to natural history filming, including exposure control, lens selection, filtration, depth of field management and motion controlled capture.
* Manage media, kit scheduling and equipment logistics across shoots, including batteries, media offload, lens care, and the safe transportation of sensitive camera systems.
* Support the deployment and monitoring of unmanned and remote camera systems for capturing elusive wildlife behaviour.
* Work collaboratively with production teams to meet filming requirements and solve challenges in the field.
* Maintain high standards of technical operation aligned with BBC Studios procedures and Health & Safety guidelines.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of photographic techniques used in wildlife production, including experience with digital cinema cameras, long telephoto lenses and remote capture systems.
* Experience supporting technical operations on location or in studio environments.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to self manage workload across multiple filming tasks.
* Ability to work effectively in varied environments, including remote locations.
* A keen interest in natural history and wildlife content.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
* Experience working with specialist shooting formats such as high speed, time lapse, macro, infrared or low light systems.
* Familiarity with wildlife specific equipment, including camera traps, hide filming setups, gyro stabilised systems and portable motion control gear.
* Knowledge of data handling and digital media workflows.
* Full clean driving licence.
* Experience contributing to sustainable production practices.
