Those Huge Small Victories

Our teaching assistants are fulfilled by making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, celebrating the little things. There are many ups and downs, and for some of our young people, sitting through a lesson can be a big win. We call these huge small victories, and while they may seem small, they make a big difference.

Check out this video on what life as a Teaching Assistant at Witherslack Group is like!

Get out what you put in

You’ll work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Your role is to help them learn, develop their abilities, and raise their self-esteem. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the huge small victories you achieve will be something you’re proud of.

It can be challenging, but the positive steps forward will outweigh the difficulties. As a Teaching Assistant at Witherslack Group, you’ll receive all the support needed to succeed. Your colleagues will be highly skilled, the school environments well-resourced, and we’ll support you every step of the way to build a rewarding teaching career.

One of the best environments in SEND

Located in the rural community of Alvescot, Sandwell offers a tranquil setting for young people to live, learn, and grow. This site combines education, care, and therapeutic support for a small cohort of young people, providing an ideal environment to help them reach their full potential. We support young people with ADHD, ASD, Asperger’s, and SEMH, and have recently been rated as Good by Ofsted.

What we do for you

We recognize your potential and reward your hard work with the best salary and benefits package in the education sector. You’ll bring learning to life and make a real difference to our young people’s lives, plus you’ll get:

* Training: Full induction and on-the-job training
* Holiday: Full school holidays off
* Progression: Many of our head teachers and leaders have been promoted from within
* Flexible benefits: Options to customize benefits such as life insurance – check out our benefits here
* Wellbeing: Tools and advice including employee assistance

Bring your whole-self to work

Our young people come from diverse backgrounds with different needs, and our workforce reflects that diversity. We encourage everyone to be themselves. To connect with our pupils, you should have:

* A ‘can do’ attitude and team spirit
* Experience in a classroom (training provided if not)
* A passion for supporting children’s learning
