We design and manufacture special purpose machines, automation systems, and leak detection equipment for a wide range of industries. With an expanding order book, we are looking for motivated graduates who want to develop a career in controls engineering.
Role Overview
We are seeking an ambitious Trainee Controls Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Engineering graduate (or similar discipline) who wants to gain hands-on experience in control panel design, PLC programming, and automation systems.
You will receive full training and mentoring from experienced engineers, with the chance to progress to a Controls/Automation Engineer role.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design and build of electrical control panels for automation equipment.
* Support the programming and commissioning of PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems.
* Work alongside mechanical and electrical engineers on live automation projects.
* Carry out wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems.
* Maintain project documentation, wiring diagrams, and software records.
* Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and customer site commissioning when required.
Skills & Qualifications
* Degree or HND in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
* Basic knowledge of PLC logic and/or electrical design principles (desirable but not essential – training will be provided).
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced engineering environment.
* Flexibility to occasionally travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas.
