A leading healthcare organisation in Oxford is seeking an experienced
Data Scientist
to support a range of data-driven initiatives aimed at improving patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical decision-making.
This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, analysts, and engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop predictive models to support clinical risk assessment and patient flow optimisation
* Analyse large-scale NHS datasets to uncover actionable insights
* Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure-based tools
* Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, impactful recommendations
* Ensure compliance with healthcare data governance and IG protocols
* Support the development of dashboards and visualisations for operational reporting
Technical Skills Required:
* Strong proficiency in
Python
(Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib)
* Experience with
SQL
and relational databases
* Familiarity with
Azure
tools (Data Factory, Synapse, ML Studio)
* Knowledge of
NHS datasets
(HES, SUS, GPES)
* Understanding of
clinical coding standards
(ICD-10, SNOMED CT)
* Experience with
Power BI
or similar tools for data visualisation
* Awareness of
data governance
and
information security
in healthcare
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Previous experience in a healthcare or public sector data science role
* Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience
* Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
* Passionate about using data to drive improvements in healthcare delivery
