Purpose:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join our Contract Resolution department, in either our Bristol, Cardiff or Leeds city centre offices. The role offers a combination of office and home working, with attendance in the office required 2 days a week.
The Consumer Contract team forms part of the Contract Resolution department which specialises in a wide variety of Civil Litigation cases (Non-Personal Injury and Non-Road Traffic Accident) directly relating to contractual disputes.
The majority of the work comes through Legal Expenses Insurers and the work can be demanding but equally rewarding. The right candidate will have excellent client/customer management skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to manage priorities effectively. Previous litigation experience or experience of managing your own caseload would be advantageous but is not essential.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Providing clear and concise legal advice on Consumer disputes.
* Managing a caseload of cases for both individual and business clients to conclusion;
* Dealing with clients on the phone and face to face, including virtual meetings;
* Using our case management system to progress files; and
* Billing and invoicing.
Skills/Competencies required:
* Excellent communication skills including telephone manner;
* Effective people skills (professionalism with colleagues, clients, other side solicitors etc);
* IT literacy;
* Excellent attention to detail including written communications;
* Strong and effective time management skills (including ability to prioritise work);
* The ability to work to strict deadlines; and
* An organised approach to your work.
Experience required:
* Successful candidates will have a good legal knowledge and be able to demonstrate successful handling of clients. Working to tight deadlines is also essential;
* Previous litigation experience or experience of managing your own caseload would be advantageous.
Education required:
A law degree, or CPE conversion (or equivalent), is essential and the LPC (or equivalent) desirable.
