The successful candidate will support the Orthoplastic Trauma service and skin cancer SSMDT. The role includes a monthly Saturday operating session to support the Trust’s move towards seven-day working and to help achieve and maintain 18-week targets, including Admitted, Non-Admitted, and Two Week Wait targets.
The on-call rota is 1 in 8, covering Major Trauma. The candidate will participate fully in the rota and contribute to department activities, including teaching, clinical management, QIPS, and team collaboration.

Main responsibilities and duties:
1. To actively develop a first-class plastic surgery service in collaboration with clinical colleagues across disciplines.
2. Support the skin cancer SSMDT, develop sentinel lymph node biopsy services for melanoma, and perform block dissections for metastatic skin cancer.
3. The appointment will be on a new consultant contract comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PA), including 8.65 PA for direct clinical care and 1.5 PA for supporting professional activities.
4. Ensure equitable working conditions; a job plan review will be scheduled within 6 months of starting. Administrative facilities include a hot desk and dedicated secretarial support.
