About the Role
As the Year 6 Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for leading a Year 6 class through their final year of primary education. You will deliver high-quality teaching across the curriculum, with a particular focus on English and mathematics, while supporting pupils’ wider personal and social development.
You will work collaboratively with the Upper Key Stage 2 team, senior leaders, and support staff to plan engaging lessons, analyse pupil progress, and implement effective interventions. A balanced and child-centred approach to SATs preparation is central to the role, ensuring pupils feel confident, supported, and motivated.
This role is suitable for experienced Year 6 teachers or confident Key Stage 2 teachers who are ready to step into Upper KS2. Early Career Teachers with strong KS2 experience may also be considered with appropriate mentoring and support.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as a Year 6 Teacher will include:
• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons in line with the National Curriculum
• Preparing pupils for end-of-Key-Stage assessments in a structured and supportive way
• Teaching reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and mathematics to a high standard
• Using formative and summative assessment to track pupil progress
• Analysing data to inform planning and targeted interventions
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
• Creating a calm, focused, and inclusive classroom environment
• Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and resilience
• Working closely with teaching assistants to support learning and intervention groups
• Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and transition to secondary school
• Communicating effectively with parents and carers
• Contributing to staff meetings, moderation, and whole-school initiatives
• Upholding safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 2
• Strong subject knowledge in English and mathematics

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable but not essential:
