Role Purpose The Earthing Application Person (EAP) is responsible for the safe application, monitoring, and removal of Impressed Voltage Drain Earthing (IVDE) equipment in accordance with National Grid and Laing O’Rourke Mechanical and Electrical Safety Rules and Procedures. This role ensures compliance with safety standards and mitigates risks associated with electrical works. Key Responsibilities Documentation Management Receive, review, clarify, and sign acceptance of the IVDE Schedule and supporting documentation. Maintain control and safe custody of the IVDE Schedule, IVDEs, and associated documentation. Inspection & Risk Assessment Inspect IVDEs and Earth Application Devices for defects before and after use. Conduct personal risk assessments considering weather, ground conditions, and manual handling. Application & Monitoring Apply IVDEs as issued by the Earthing Control Person (ECP). Continually monitor the effectiveness of IVDE connections and perform daily physical checks with the working party leader or supervisor. Suspend work and report to the ECP if IVDEs or devices become ineffective; record actions in the IVDE Schedule. Transfer & Clearance Transfer IVDE Schedule when required in accordance with procedures. Confirm completion of work, notify the working party, remove IVDEs promptly, and sign the Clearance section of the IVDE Schedule.
