We are seeking a Senior Financial Applications Engineer to provide advanced technical support for our financial technology platforms. You will be responsible for providing 3rd line support, addressing complex technical challenges, and contributing to enhancements of our financial systems. Working under the guidance of platform and technology owners, you will resolve sophisticated issues, implement technical improvements, and ensure systems operate efficiently to meet business objectives. What you’ll be doing • Provide advanced (3rd line) technical support for financial and accounting applications, addressing complex issues that require deep technical expertise • Investigate and resolve sophisticated technical problems that couldn't be addressed at lower support levels • Work with platform owners to understand system architecture and implement technical solutions aligned with overall application strategy • Drive resolution of complex application issues, coordinating with vendors and internal teams as needed • Implement system configurations and technical enhancements to improve application performance and reliability • Develop technical solutions to address recurring issues and prevent future occurrences • Support relationships with third-party vendors for technical escalations, including detailed issue analysis and complex problem resolution • Create and update technical documentation, including configuration specifications, troubleshooting guides, and solution designs • Execute complex testing scenarios for new features and system upgrades, ensuring thorough validation before deployment • Participate in root cause analysis for critical incidents and implement preventative measures • Identify and propose technical improvements and automation opportunities within financial systems • Provide technical guidance to junior team members on complex application issues The ideal background for this role: • Proven experience in application support or engineering roles (minimum of 5 years) • Experience supporting accounting platforms and financial systems • Knowledge of PFS Paxus is highly desirable • Understanding of fund accounting principles is a positive but not critical • Strong proficiency with SQL and database concepts for advanced troubleshooting • Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues • Experience in technical problem escalation and resolution in enterprise environments • Experience implementing system configurations and technical enhancements for financial applications • Experience working in an Agile environment is desirable • Self-motivated, proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and analytical problem-solving abilities • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to various stakeholders • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple complex priorities in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team • Excellent communication skills in English R o l e Location/Hybrid Schedule This role will be based in our Southampton office, with up to four days on-site per week required. Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
