Senior Asset Management

Division – Asset Management – Buy Side

Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £65,500 and London £57,700 to £70,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

We're looking for someone to join the Asset Management & Funds Department within the FCA’s Buyside Supervision Directorate. This exciting role offers you the opportunity to engage and influence change at firms across the sector. You will be exposed to strategic issues and key players in financial services. Joining the department offers a key insight into a dynamic and critically important sector, at a time of rapid and fundamental change.

What will you be doing?

This is a dynamic role focused on supervising smaller firms in the long tail of the asset management sector, being responsible for responding to events in an agile and assertive manner.

You will be part of a diverse team responsible for the supervision of firms that can impact and influence households and businesses across the UK.

1. You will be responsible for understanding how the strategies, business models or operations of asset management firms could cause harm to consumers

2. Lead the design and implementation of supervision strategies to create real change in firms in the best interests of consumers

3. You will lead senior interactions, communicating clearly and succinctly, influencing their conduct and shaping key decisions through application of sound judgement

4. Leading reactive work in response to firm issues and industry developments

5. Working collaboratively and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as Authorisations and Enforcement, as well as external parties such as other regulators

6. Contributing to the wider department, including making recommendations for continuous improvement of our processes and identification of sector-wide risks and issues

8. You will have a personal accountability to work out how firms are causing risk to everyday consumers and what solutions are best to combat this

9. You will have the opportunity to visit firms on site visits whilst engaging with stakeholders about driving changes in these firms for the benefit of consumers

10. An opportunity to gain key insight into a dynamic and critically important sector, at a time of rapid and fundamental change

Which skills are required?

Minimum

11. Industry, consultancy or regulatory experience within the asset management, insurance or banking sectors

12. Experience of reviewing, investigating, and assessing information from various sources to make sound judgements

13. Experience of managing internal and external stakeholders at all levels

Essential

14. Commitment to the work of the FCA and a desire to make a difference

15. Demonstrable experience of analysing, investigating, and assessing information from various sources to make sound judgements

16. A delivery focused mindset and ability to operate in an environment where there are competing priorities

17. Ability to present yourself and the FCA in a professional and credible manner

18. A great team player who works effectively with others to achieve positive outcomes

19. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior management and stakeholders

20. A good communicator, who explains issues clearly, concisely and can influence others. Offering constructive challenges, delivering strong messages and responding to challenge effectively

21. Ability to learn, develop and take on new responsibilities, quickly filling gaps in your understanding
