About the Role
Main Duties:
The Buying Manager should focus on driving profit performance by negotiating improved and sustainable commercial terms and managing cost inflation, with supply partners which meets brand and operational requirements utilising the best commercial and most efficient route to market. This includes working closely and integrated with the Supply Chain team to assist in the management of logistics, shelf life, allergens, storage and minimum production runs to ensure product is sourced at best cost, without reducing quality or availability. The role also needs to work closely with Commercial, NPD, Operations, Finance teams to ensure effective implementation and communication of activities and seamless transition of any new activities.
What you'll be doing:
1. Negotiating new and improved terms with suppliers in Ireland.
2. Creating, documenting, detailing and tracking all supplier trading terms with Finance
3. Improving supplier investment / returns (central income)
4. Utilising market / commodity & supplier intelligence to deliver new and improved terms
5. Seamless transition of any new or improved agreements
6. Rationalisation & consolidation of terms / suppliers / products
7. Communicating cross functionally especially with Marketing/NPD and Operations
8. Supporting & managing Product / Promotional launches on time
9. Influencing decision making on range reviews / menus to best commercial deal
10. Identifying new commercial opportunities & recommending to internal teams
11. Presenting to senior management for approval and implementation
12. Managing, maintaining and selecting suppliers and their contract database
13. Annual audit of processes and income for Ireland suppliers.
To be successful in this role you will need:
Essential:
14. 2-3 years minimum F&B buying experience within a large food retailer / caterer or supplier
15. Good analytical skills including cost / benefit analysis
16. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including senior management
17. Ability to work under pressure and deliver to specific deadlines
18. Good Negotiating and Influencing skills
19. Excellent oral and written skills
Desirable:
20. Contract management knowledge
21. Category Management principles and customer insight experience
22. Supplier Quality Assurance including food safety, due diligence, accreditation etc
23. Payment terms and working capital implementation
24. Project implementation
