CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Curatorial E (SO Grade) to join their team on a temporary contract with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities will include:
Curatorial E archaeologist within the Historic Environment Division (HED). The post will cover a range of duties, working as part of a team, and providing support to HED staff. The post-holder will be responsible for assisting their Curatorial Grade D line manager in the provision of comprehensive archaeological and historic environment related development management advice on planning consultations and related development management casework received by the Historic Environment Division. They will have a hands-on role in carrying out casework connected with development management, strategic spatial planning, large-scale infrastructure projects, planning consultations, reviewing archaeological impact assessments and archaeological mitigation strategies as part of the planning process, and carrying out related fieldwork. Including any duties required by line management.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
·i) A level 6 qualification in archaeology (e.g. an honours degree in archaeology),
·(ii) A degree in a relevant subject such as geography, architecture, or history, with at least one year’s further full-time study (or the equivalent aggregated over 3 years) leading to the award of a recognised post-graduate qualification in archaeology, industrial heritage or built heritage management. In addition, the applicant must have
·(iii) at least one year’s professional archaeological fieldwork or research experience or one year’s professional experience, gained in the last 5 years, within the duties and responsibilities detailed above in Key Responsibilities. The two types of experience may be combined to achieve the required one year.
·(iv) A full driving licence, valid for Northern Ireland, and access to a form of transport that will enable them to carry out the duties of the post in full
Desired Experience and Qualifications
·A recognised post-graduate qualification (Level 7 or higher) in either archaeology or historic environment management (defined as);
·Having directed, or assisted in the direction of archaeological excavation, or carrying out field surveys of historic monuments and archaeological sites for commercial, research, statutory, archive or publication purposes.
·Having conducted archaeological research, at post-graduate level, leading to a post-graduate degree, or a peer-reviewed report for publication.
·Having managed or assisted in the management of post-excavation analysis or archaeological archiving projects, or other desk-based archaeological projects, demonstrably to the highest recognised professional, curatorial or archival standards.
