Salary and Working Pattern
* £42,350.18 – £47,537.02 pro rata (22.5 hours per week)
* Cost of living pay award negotiated annually as a salary increase

Responsibilities
* Carry out routine inspections of food businesses to promote and enforce compliance with food safety, health and safety at work and public health legislation and guidance
* Investigate complaints about food safety and food poisoning, investigating outbreaks and working closely with UKHSA
* Write up inspection reports and answer correspondence
* Attend inter‑agency working groups relevant to the team
* Collaborate with the Environmental Health Manager and Lead Food Officer, other council departments and external bodies to deliver departmental and corporate targets
* Work in a hybrid model, spending time at home, office, and traveling around the district to carry out food hygiene inspections
Qualifications
* Recognised professional qualification in Environmental Health
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* EHORN registered
Experience
* Prior working experience in a local authority regulatory environment carrying out food hygiene inspections, complaint work, and investigating outbreaks of infectious disease
* Good communication and IT skills, ideally with at least one year working in Food Safety and independently carrying out food hygiene inspections
* Own transport or equivalent way of getting around the district
Basic DBS check required as part of pre‑employment clearances
