North Hill School are looking to recruit an outstanding SEN Teacher to join our Teaching team on a 1-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of a permanent role! We are looking for an ambitious, energetic, and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who have autism, ADHD, and associated needs. The successful candidate will be a qualified Teacher (holds QTS).

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties.

The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society. Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance.

You will be required to carry out the professional duties covered by the latest School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

10. The post holder will be expected to undertake duties in line with the professional standards for qualified teachers and uphold the professional code of the General Teaching Council for England.
11. Teach a class of young people, and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
12. Have significant experience of using recognised and appropriate teaching strategies for our students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN).
13. Provide timely and accurate reports to all stakeholders including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Governors (as required) and parents / carers.
14. Keep accurate up to date records of assessments of learning and progress of each student and match against aspirational and appropriate targets.
15. Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
16. Work cohesively with key workers and the in-house therapeutic team to follow care plans and assist in creating educational schemes of work.
17. Provide the highest standards of professional practice and safeguarding.
