We are recruiting a Substance Misuse Nurse to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C resettlement prison in Leicester.

About the Role
HMP Fosse Way is a modern male prison with a capacity of 1,930. The role involves delivering specialised substance‑misuse care within an interdisciplinary team to support male inmates’ rehabilitation and reduce reoffending rates.
Hours and Schedule
- Monday to Sunday service – 37.5 hours per week
- Shift: 7 am – 8 pm
- One weekend every four weeks
- No nights
- 4‑week rolling rota
Salary
Full‑time, £43,609 – £49,175 per annum, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team, prioritising patient care and developing individualised care packages through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
- Deliver a range of treatment options – clinical and psychosocial interventions – in both group and one‑to‑one settings.
- Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review recovery plans, and communicate treatment options to service users.
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication, manage side effects, and liaise with prescribers.
- Support group work delivery and collaborate with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions; occasional dispensing support may be required.
- Maintain a person‑centred, recovery‑oriented approach.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered nurse with current NMC Adult and NMC Mental Health registration.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD).
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse, or willingness to undertake it.
- Experience working with opiate‑dependent patients.
- Sound clinical knowledge of substance misuse.
- A non‑judgmental, compassionate approach to care.
