Job Opportunity: Band 7 Estates Manager (Mechanical)

Are you a technically qualified Mechanical Estates Manager with a passion for delivering safe and compliant estate services in a healthcare environment? A new opportunity has opened for an experienced Band 7 Mechanical Estates Manager to join a busy London-based NHS team and take responsibility for critical engineering systems across multiple sites.
Role Overview
You'll play a key role in overseeing the delivery of mechanical services including water safety, heating, ventilation, and medical gas systems. This role involves managing in-house maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure statutory and operational compliance, service quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the management of mechanical engineering and water safety systems across NHS estates
* Act as Authorised Person for relevant mechanical systems (e.g., heating, water, ventilation, medical gases)
* Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, HTMs/HBNs, and Trust policies
* Manage and monitor maintenance contracts, SLAs, and contractor performance
* Deliver effective PPM and reactive maintenance strategies
* Provide technical and operational leadership to the mechanical team
* Participate in on-call rota and respond to emergency incidents as required
Essential Skills & Experience
* Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
* Substantial experience in NHS estates or a similar regulated environment
* Strong track record managing mechanical maintenance services and teams
* Proven budget and contract management capabilities
* Up-to-date knowledge of water safety, ventilation, and H&S legislation
* Excellent communication, IT, and leadership skills
* Full UK driving licence (manual & automatic)
Desirable
* Membership of a relevant professional body
* Project management experience
* NHS experience is highly desirable
Additional Information
* This is a site-based role (Monday-Friday, 8:00-16:30)
* The role will require participation in an on-call rota
* A Standard DBS check is required
