Role overview

Our vision in Finance is to become a world class function by the end of 2026. This means displaying industry leading performance across 5 key areas, Control, Insight, Efficiency, People and Technology. Treasury supports the business through effective liquidity management, risk management and ensuring compliance with our legal and regulatory requirements. We provide business support for all forms of inbound and outbound payments, ensuring our customers have an effective and efficient range of ways to both make payments to and receive payments from Hastings Direct).

This role is a senior contributor within Hastings’ Treasury function, responsible for leading the control, reporting, and systems oversight of middle office activities. You will act as a key partner to the Group Treasurer and front office, ensuring that the Group’s liquidity is monitored effectively and that treasury operations are compliant, resilient, and well-governed. You will lead the delivery of board-level reporting, month-end close, and regulatory submissions, while also driving improvements in systems, processes, and data quality. A key focus will be the implementation of a new Treasury Management System (TMS) and the advancement of the treasury technology estate.

Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in:

1. Oversee liquidity monitoring processes, ensuring the Group’s financial commitments are met and risks are identified early

2. Deliver accurate and timely month-end close and board-level treasury reporting, including MI, KPIs, and variance analysis

3. Drive continuous improvement in treasury operations, including documentation, controls, and reporting

4. Support front office and back office, being able to provide cover across the team.

5. Lead or support the implementation of a new Treasury Management System (TMS), acting as a key business SME

6. Collaborate with Finance, Risk, and IT to ensure treasury processes align with broader business objectives

7. Represent Treasury in internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and strategic projects

Essential skills/experience:

8. Solid experience in a treasury function, with demonstrable middle office expertise

9. AMCT qualification (or equivalent)

10. Strong understanding of CASS 5 rules, FX operations, interest accruals, and treasury controls

11. Proven experience leading or contributing to treasury system implementations or upgrades

12. Advanced Excel and familiarity with Power BI or other reporting tools (eg TM1)

13. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

14. Demonstrated ability to lead change, coach others, and deliver results in a regulated environment
