QA Test Manager
London - Hybrid working
6 Month Initial Contract
£600 - £650/day inside IR35
We're looking for an experienced QA Test Manager to lead and elevate quality across multiple delivery teams working on complex, global platforms. This role spans front‑end and back‑end engineering, with responsibility for driving QA governance, standards and consistency across UK‑based and offshore teams.
You'll operate across 3-4 delivery teams, influencing stakeholders with authority and setting the direction for scalable, efficient QA practices. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone comfortable working across diverse domains - from digital and eCommerce initiatives to more complex, non‑standard QA challenges.
What you'll be doing
1. Establishing and improving QA governance, standards and best practices
2. Leading and influencing multiple QA teams across geographies
3. Driving test automation, integration, E2E and performance testing
4. Improving efficiency and scalability through strong engineering‑led QA
5. Supporting and reviewing code where required
6. Owning and improving CI/CD‑integrated QA pipelines (. GitLab)
7. Working closely with front‑end and back‑end engineering teams
What we're looking for
8. Hands-on experience in JavaScript + Selenium Web Driver (writing, executing, analysing, and fixing automation tests)
9. Experience in Playwright & Cucumber
10. Extensive experience managing QA teams (both automation and manual) on and offshore though partners
11. Experience with branching strategies and deployment pipelines
12. Experience with AI testing tools and have a passion for emerging TestTech
13. Experience with release management, focusing on incremental.
14. Proven track record in creating and executing effective QA automation strategies covering both front-end apps and back-end systems /microservices / GraphQl
15. Experience with complex data sources with multiple entry points
16. Experienced in test documentation: check lists, test cases, bug reports, test reports, clear vision for testing requirements
17. Experience with solutions to test on real devices at scale
18. Experience in championing Agile working practices such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, TDD & BDD etc
19. Understanding of tools for version control (. Git) and continuous integration (. Jenkins, Gitlab) and relevant quality gates that can reduce production bugs and incidents
20. Proactively measuring, identifying bottlenecks in the testing approach, focusing on maintaining speed and quality
21. Excellent communication and influencing skills, the ability to clearly articulate a point of view to both technical and non-technical colleagues
22. Passion, enthusiasm for and a deep interest in technology and software engineering
23. A keen desire to constantly innovate and improve both technology and people
