Overview
English Teacher - Maternity Cover (Kendal) – Underley Garden School, Kirkby Lonsdale, LA6 2DZ. Salary up to 41,000.00 per annum plus a Welcome Bonus of 1,000. Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday. Contract: Fixed Term | Term Time Only. Start: October 2026. UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.
As part of Options Autism and Outcomes First Group, this position involves delivering English to pupils with complex learning needs, spanning Key Stage 1 to Post-16, with a small number of foundation subject lessons per week. This role also includes teaching History as an additional subject.

Responsibilities
* Deliver English to pupils with complex learning needs across KS1 to Post-16, with an additional foundation subject timetable.
* Provide creative, flexible, and engaging teaching in a specialist environment where every pupil matters.
* Contribute to a well-resourced department and collaborate with a supportive staff team.
* Deliver small group or 1:1 sessions as appropriate and manage classroom behavior in line with safeguarding policies.
Qualifications
* UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
* Experience or strong interest in working with pupils with SEN/ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions).
* Ability to teach English across a wide age and ability range; confidence to deliver some foundation subject content.
* Nurturing, resilient, and flexible approach; commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
