Job Title: Night Shift Mechanical Engineer
Location: Pontrilas, Herefordshire
Hours: 40 hours per week – Sunday to Thursday, 21:45 – 06:15
Salary: £35,591 – £42,985 per year + weekly production bonus
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Night Shift Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining, repairing, and improving mechanical systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working during critical night hours, you will help ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and production machinery.
2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
3. Deliver mechanical project work, including upgrades, installations, and system improvements.
4. Support the integration of new machinery and mechanical systems.
5. Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable performance.
6. Undertake welding and fabrication tasks (MMA & MIG) when required.
7. Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards.
8. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support night shift operations.
9. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and project work.
What We’re Looking For
10. Qualified mechanical engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
11. Proven experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environment.
12. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
13. Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding (MMA & MIG), conveyors, or sawmill/woodworking machinery (desirable).
14. Ability to work independently and proactively during night shifts.
15. Good understanding of health and safety procedures and compliance.
16. Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious attitude.
