Rivan Industries is hiring an Engineering Technician to help drive sub-systems forward. You’ll be hands on, building test rigs, debugging equipment, organising workshop inventory, and helping execute large-scale system builds. You’ll work at our HQ in South London, helping speed up the development of our electrolyser, run reactor tests, and integrate our DAC system.
The role
* Design, build and execute tests
* Design effective test rigs to validate engineering assumptions across fluids, thermals or electrical systems. This might include test rigs with a PID loop to test heat transfer rate of a heat exchanger with varying flow rates and DeltaT.
* Assemble rigs, including pipework, fittings, skids, electrical requirements (with an electrical engineer), and any machining. This may include light CAD work and internal/external part processing.
* Execute the test plan and follow a test protocol to achieve results that meet the spec’d parameters.
* Assembly support and validation
* Accelerate assembly of large system integrations: preparation, ordering parts, clearing areas, using lifting equipment when required, and following assembly protocols (tightening, lubrication, measurements against spec).
* Execute factory acceptance tests (FATs) on new hardware that arrives at HQ or before shipment from suppliers.
* Equipment maintenance
* Maintain a growing range of heavy machinery (laser cutters, water-jet cutters, drills, lathes, mills, welding equipment).
* Keep a list of spares, jigs and materials for use across all machinery.
Core skills
* 2-3 years of professional experience in a relevant environment (workshop, factory, or laboratory).
* Practical examples of hands-on project builds.
* Engineering degree or apprenticeship/background in engineering.
* Personal projects and hands-on tinkering.
The things that are important to us for this role
* Execution history. What have you built or designed before where you had responsibility?
* Reasoning by first principles. Can you deconvolute complex scenarios into foundational truths?
* Urgency. Are you comfortable with a high degree of risk and fast-paced work?
* Grit. How relentless are you despite setbacks?
Specifics
* £30-40K salary depending on experience
* Share options as part of the early team
* In-person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South-East London
* Flexible time-off
