BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland's trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
BEAR has responsibility for over 750 bridges and structures including the iconic Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.
We have opportunities for Fabricator/Welder to join our NMC SE contract working within our Major Bridges Maintenance Team. The Fabricator/Welder is an integral part of the Major Bridges Maintenance Team helping deliver the contract to the client at a high quality and standard.
Although Fabrication/Welding is required for the role as we produce steelwork to execution class 3, the role also requires a good mechanical knowledge to enable repairs to plant and equipment, making the role quite unique and diverse.
A full driving licence is essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
* Fabrication & Welding of new steelwork projects to an execution class 3/Sector Scheme standards. This will include shop fabrication and site installation.
* Bridge structure repairs – mechanical and welded.
* Undertaking all aspects of bridge maintenance works including routine and cyclic activities
* Dring/Plant: Carry out vehicle checks, movement of materials, vehicle cleaning, minor maintenance when required.
* Record Keeping.
* Being part of the Emergency Standby Team – this includes 1-week standby cover
* Emergency Rescue Team Participation (full training provided)
Knowledge & Experience:
* SVQ 3 or HNC Qualified
* Comfortable Working at Height / Confined Space
* CSCS Card – Desirable
* Strong attention to detail
* Knowledge of Health & Safety – both working individually and as part of a team.
