This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of an engaging and practical DT curriculum. Key Responsibilities: Preparation and Support: Prepare teaching resources and materials for DT lessons across all year groups, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum. Maintain and calibrate a wide range of DT equipment, including hand and power tools, machinery, and specialist software. Ensure the safe and effective use of workshops and DT facilities. Assist teachers in setting up practical activities and demonstrations. Technical Expertise: Provide technical support to teachers in the design and development of DT projects. Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools and equipment, offering guidance to students. Maintain a comprehensive inventory of tools, materials, and consumables, ensuring timely replenishment. Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on DT equipment as needed. Health & Safety: Implement and maintain high standards of health and safety within the DT workshops, adhering to all regulations. Conduct regular risk assessments and safety briefings for students and staff. Ensure the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Organisation and Communication: Maintain a well-organised and efficient working environment in the DT workshops. Communicate effectively with DT teachers, other staff members, and students. Contribute to the development and enhancement of the DT department as a whole. The Ideal Candidate: Possesses a relevant qualification in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field (desirable). Demonstrates a strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment. Has experience working with a variety of tools, machinery, and materials used in DT education. Exhibits excellent organizational and communication skills. Maintains a positive and collaborative working style. Holds a steadfast commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.
