An exciting opportunity for a clinical educator for post registration nursing has arisen in the team. If you are passionate about the nursing role and empowering nurses through education and training to enable safe, quality care this role is for you!

The post holder is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering clinical skills training and competency programmes to ensure clinical staff can practise safely and effectively. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and with clinical educators across the Trust. The role also involves promoting and supporting inter‑professional learning and acting as a positive role model for best‑practice nursing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Head and Deputy Head of Clinical Education (Nursing and Midwifery), Clinical Education Leads, the wider Clinical Education team, the Learning and Development team (including Technology Enhanced Learning), and Trust Clinical Educators to plan, coordinate and deliver clinical skills training, competency assessment and education programmes that support safe and effective clinical practice. Enhance and develop clinical knowledge and skills using approved learning, teaching and assessment methods. Foster and support a culture in which learning within the clinical environment is encouraged, valued and able to thrive.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.

If you are applying using a Graduate visa as your right to work, you must have a minimum of 18 months remaining on your visa at time of application.

Effectively and sensitively communicate with staff, patients and external partners, ensuring key information is shared with managers, the Clinical Education team and Trust Educators. Support the visibility of the Clinical Education team by using accessible and inclusive communication platforms. Use evidence‑based practice and national guidelines to create high‑quality, standardised educational resources. Plan, coordinate and deliver clinical skills training and competency programmes using a range of learning methods, including technology‑enhanced learning. Continuously improve education content and delivery by responding to evaluations and feedback. Use resources efficiently to support cost‑effective services, and utilise digital systems—including databases, the Trust learning management system and Microsoft 365—to support effective planning and delivery. To encourage effective working relationships and the development of cohesive team working. To maintain own professional registration and work in accordance with the NMC code (2018) and Trust policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Essential criteria

1. First level registered nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK) and Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent
2. Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor or equivalent
3. Acute care clinical experience current or within the last year
4. Evidence of clear written and verbal communication skills
5. Evidence of proficient IT skills (Microsoft 365, learning management systems)
6. Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equality issues
7. Able to undertake job responsibilities (including cross site travel)
8. Aware of professional learning needs and contributes to their own development

Desirable criteria

9. 6 or more months experience working in clinical education or equivalent
10. Clinical competence in acute care skills
11. Research awareness and skills
12. Professional mentor / coach
