We are seeking an experienced Fitter/Tester to join our team at the Whitley Site Fabrication Machine Shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering machining solutions to support low-volume prototype builds.
Key responsibilities include setting, operating, and programming both manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, and other equipment such as grinders, guillotines, and presses.
What To Expect
In this role You will be producing / modifying components which could be a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials for different departments including Engine Build, Electronic Drive Unit Build and onsite Test Facilities. Here’s what to expect:
* Self-inspect and control quality of work manufactured
* Willing to support others and capable of working on own to provide solutions to a variety of machining applications
* Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
* 5s, TPM and housekeeping within the Fabrication & Machine Shop
* Reading and interpreting drawings
* Working efficiently and effectively
* Maintains a safe and clean workstation
What You’ll Need
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
* NVQ level 3 in relevant field
* Experience in setting, operating and programming XYZ, Proto Trak SMX control and 3-axis CNC Machinery
* Experience in manufacturing components on a manual Lathe and Miller
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and measurement principles with relevant experience using CAD software
* Experience of cutting a variety of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous and fabrication and Welding experience
* Capable of working on own to provide solutions to machining issues
* Knowledge and practical understanding of H&S, COSHH and environmental procedures
