To meet our current UK business needs and help us achieve our development aspirations, we have created an opportunity for a Principal Hydrogeologist within our Water Catchment Management & Maritime capability in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Working in collaborative multidisciplinary teams including hydrologists, hydro‑morphologists, aquatic ecologists, environmental economists.
* Providing specialist hydrogeological support to water resources and low flow studies, aligned to Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), including delivery of WFD, No Deterioration and Environmental Destination type projects.
* Support the review of hydrogeological datasets, identification of groundwater‑surface water interaction, formulation of conceptual site models, design and implementation of groundwater monitoring schemes, groundwater model interrogation, signal test design and analysis, as well as assessment of the impact of abstraction and options for meeting WINEP objectives.
* Origination of complicated technical works, and reviews and signs‑off pieces of work.
* Delivery of training/sharing of technical knowledge, supporting the professional development of colleagues and peers.
* Support business development, identifying new clients, emerging opportunities and complicated and large bids.
Qualifications
* A good Honours/Masters degree in earth sciences, or equivalent.
* Chartered or working towards chartered status.
* Demonstratable track record in the technical delivery of hydrogeology projects, including water resources and low flow studies aligned to the WINEP.
* Groundwater site characterisation, groundwater‑surface water interaction and its mechanisms, generation of conceptual site model and quantitative groundwater and abstraction impact assessments.
* Hydrogeological testing – design and specification of signal testing and pumping tests.
* Progressive experience of long‑term groundwater monitoring – design and specification of installation of groundwater monitoring instrumentation.
* Ability to interpret in‑situ testing, monitoring data, and field and laboratory testing.
* Comfortable using/supervising/interrogating numerical modelling (such as MODFLOW, FEFLOW and/or other similar software).
* Team player willing to work away from your base office, with a high level of personal responsibility and an adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements.
