A unique opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join the Neurosciences Team, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital site.

The post holder be part of a well-established, friendly neurosciences pharmacy team. This is a key role within the pharmacy team delivering services across the Neurosciences directorate.

The post-holder will be an active member of the directorates, to ensure continuous two-way exchange of information and maintain high standards of medicines use within the Trust.

Main duties of the job
1. Be responsible for developing and maintaining expert knowledge in clinical pharmacy within Neuro-Critical Care, including prescribing, screening, and optimising medicines. They will promote, monitor, and improve safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective use of medicines across the neurosciences directorate.
2. Lead the NICU pharmacy service and be responsible for the routine review, update, and development of medicines-related guidelines/ policies.
3. Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice to patients, carers, and clinical teams and hold delegated responsibility for defined areas of the neurosciences pharmacy service, as agreed with the Directorate Pharmacist.
4. Support and deputise for the Directorate Pharmacist in delivering a safe, effective, and efficient pharmacy service in accordance with local and national standards, policies, and strategic objectives. They will represent the needs of neurosciences patients in relevant governance forums.
5. The role includes responsibility for delivering specialised education and training to clinical staff to support high standards of patient care and medicines safety, including guideline development and participation in clinical meetings and teaching.
6. The post-holder will also support, supervise, and mentor junior pharmacists, ensuring appropriate education, training, and professional development. They will contribute to workforce planning and service development to ensure optimal use of resources to meet standards and demand.
