We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Band 5 Radiographer to join our exceptional department team at Queen Elizabeth Woolwich. All qualified applicants must be registered with the HCPC and hold a DCR or BSc in Radiography. Students awaiting HCPC registration are welcome to apply.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in departmental shift patterns covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; you will need to display a flexible approach to these working patterns. Cross‑site working (including Eltham Community Diagnostic Centre) will be required as necessary, giving you the opportunity to work and experience a range of different equipment and examinations.
Job responsibilities
Job Summary
* Accountable to Radiology Service Manager.
* Provide radiographic imaging to a high standard and in a professional manner, working to departmental guidelines.
* Carry out radiographic duties in all areas including theatres, A&E (adults and paediatrics), wards especially those with high‑dependency patients and the critically ill.
* Carry out all responsibilities with regard to Trust Policies including Data Protection and Equal Opportunities.
Key Result Areas
* Independently undertake diagnostic radiology procedures maintaining high professional standards of technical competence and ensuring standards of care at all times.
* Assess and adapt techniques and protocols following assessment for each procedure.
* Take responsibility for the care of the patient while undertaking the procedure, including manual handling.
* Ensure the protection and safety of all patients and staff against the dangers of radiation.
* Monitor and evaluate Ionising Radiation Regulations 99 and IR(ME)R 2000 and ensure patients' procedures are performed with due consideration of these regulations.
* Comply with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
* Ensure patient confidentiality is observed at all times and observe the requirements of the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act.
* Participate in the department's out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.
* Observe all local rules and the Trust's employment policies and procedures.
* Undertake regular QA tests to identify and report equipment faults or inaccuracies.
* Ensure the safe use of specialist radiology equipment and report equipment failures immediately.
* Undertake resuscitation trolley checks in accordance with Trust and departmental guidelines.
Performance
* Participate in the induction and training of student radiographers.
* Attend mandatory staff training courses.
* Provide assistance and be involved in departmental projects and audits.
* Participate in departmental quality groups.
* Take every opportunity for self‑development.
Workforce
* Ensure accurate recording on the Radiology Information System of patient information and examination details including confirmation of examination and consumables used and dose received by patient.
* Ensure that all diagnostic images are sent to and checked on the Radiology PACS system for formal reporting.
* Attend staff meetings and contribute to processes in development and planning of radiology services.
* Attend any meetings as required by the Head of Imaging or Service Manager for Radiology.
Partnerships
* Promote good relations with other directorates and hospitals.
* Offer advice and guidance to patients and carers on radiology procedures and radiation issues, taking due consideration of patients' conditions.
* Obtain informed consent from patients prior to undertaking procedures as appropriate to individual circumstances.

* DCR, BSc in Radiography or equivalent
* State registered
