Role Summary
We are seeking x4 Propulsion Systems Validation Engineer to join the Propulsion System Integration team, supporting battery electric and hybrid vehicle programmes. In this hands-on role, you will lead test planning, execution, and analysis to support design release and technology development across rig and vehicle testing environments.
You’ll play a key role in test definition, rig coordination, post-test data analysis, and issue resolution-ensuring the successful validation of complex propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute system functional and non-functional test plans for PIL, VIL, and in-vehicle environments
2. Conduct test and development activities aligned to system performance and customer requirements
3. Specify and coordinate rig modifications with test facilities teams
4. Define and maintain DVPs and associated DVMS
5. Integrate propulsion system test requirements with cross-functional teams and programmes
6. Author and maintain system-level test specifications and functional validation documents
7. Lead system integration tests and design verification activities
8. Analyse test data to confirm pass/fail status and produce timely reports
9. Ensure test issues are captured, assigned, and actioned within agreed timelines
10. Support prototype builds, rig commissioning, and troubleshooting of hardware/software issues
11. Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and refining validation processes
12. Support engineering sign-off with traceable, high-quality evidence
13. Collaborate with engineering, CAE, and supplier teams to align validation strategies
14. Manage and maintain test documentation in alignment with programme milestones
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
15. Proven experience in systems engineering, testing, and development-preferably in automotive propulsion
16. Strong knowledge of model-based engineering (MBE) and requirements/test case management (RM)
17. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
18. Proficient in developing test strategies and validation procedures
19. Effective communicator and team collaborator
20. Familiar with system definition, requirements, architecture, integration, and verification
Desirable:
21. Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML and IBM Rational Rhapsody
22. Experience using IBM Rational DOORS
23. Structured problem-solving methodology for technical issue resolution
