Trainee Neurodevelopmental Assessor (12-Month Programme)


* Location: Cheltenham (hybrid - on site 2 days per week)
* Employment Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (12 months)
* Start Date: January (notice period dependent)
* Salary: £25,000 per annum


About the Role


Are you a Psychology graduate with a genuine passion for understanding Autism, ADHD, and neurodiversity? Would you like to gain hands-on clinical experience while being trained to use gold-standard diagnostic tools such as the ADI-R, ADOS, ACE and DIVA?


RTN Mental Health Solutions is offering an exciting 12-month training programme through our RTN Academy, designed to equip aspiring clinicians with the skills to conduct high-quality neurodevelopmental assessments. You will be trained by experienced clinicians, supported through regular supervision, and given opportunities to develop reflective, evidence-based practice.

Key Responsibilities


Neurodevelopmental Assessment


* Conduct comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessment interviews utilising standardised diagnostic tools to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and behavioural functioning.


Clinical Reporting


* Prepare detailed clinical reports that accurately document findings, assessments, and recommendations based on standardised evaluations and patient history.


Clinical Analysis & Decision-Making


* Critically analyse clinical information, integrating assessment data, patient history, and observational findings to inform diagnostic decisions and treatment planning.


Risk Assessment & Safeguarding


* Perform thorough risk assessments to identify potential safety concerns, implementing appropriate safeguarding protocols and intervention strategies to ensure patient well-being.


Quality Assurance


* Oversee quality assurance and monitoring processes to maintain high standards of clinical care, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory guidelines.


Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration


* Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, collaborating with professionals across various disciplines to develop holistic, patient-centred care plans.


Clinical Problem-Solving


* Engage in clinical problem-solving by addressing complex cases, navigating diagnostic challenges, and adapting assessment strategies to meet individual patient needs.


Service Development


* Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to current evidence-based practices.


What We’re Looking For


Essential


* A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject
* Strong interest and understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* High attention to detail and strong report-writing ability
* Ability to work autonomously, including remotely
* Ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines
* Solutions-focused mindset and strong personal initiative
* Empathy, professionalism, and a reflective approach to learning


Desirable


* Previous experience supporting individuals with ASD, ADHD, or other neurodevelopmental needs.
* Experience in a clinical, educational, or social care setting.
