Manufacturing Quality Engineer
Bristol – Full Time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our team in Bristol. BTF Turbines facility manufactures high quality turbine casting components for use in civil and defence engine applications. As a Quality Engineer you will support the Quality function to maintain high levels of compliance and embed good practice and behaviours in our drive toward zero defects. Covering both the Foundry and Machine shop, you will interact with Operations and support teams to provide day‑to‑day Quality support and ensure Quality objectives are delivered. The role is day shift, reporting to the Quality Manager, with flexibility required. Although based in Bristol, travel to suppliers, customers and other Rolls‑Royce sites may be required on certain occasions. The role is varied and interesting, covering aspects of auditing, compliance, training, problem‑solving with high levels of interaction with other departments, external auditors, customers and suppliers. It demands coaching, influencing, facilitating and coordinating to best utilise human resources to deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Operations team and other support functions with day‑to‑day Quality support.
* Support Internal and External Audits and subsequent audit activities.
* Lead problem‑solving activity.
* Support improvement projects and training initiatives.
* Identify, report, and tackle issues of non‑compliance to agreed standards.
* Address containment of known Quality issues in a timely manner and identify failure modes and tackle root cause.
* Maintain training records.
* Provide coaching and support in aspects of RRPS, Global Procedures, Standards and Best Practices.
* Understand and report site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Required Skills And Experience
* A high level of literacy and numeracy. Will need to collect, interpret and report data clearly and concisely.
* An intermediate/high level of computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) and SAP.
* A good communicator, comfortable leading conversations, meetings and presentations.
* Ability to work using your own initiative within a small busy department, make priority work decisions and resolve problems.
* Ability to cope with multiple tasks and requests in a calm and organised manner.
* Proactive and positive outlook, able to cope with disruptions and changes to work plans.
* Background in manufacturing who understands how production facilities operate and the importance of Quality practices embedded into processes.
* Strong customer focus. Zero‑defect expectation toward products and services.
* Leads by example, consistently demonstrating good practice and compliance in aspects of Safety and Quality.
