Job Description

Finance Technician (G5) – Temporary Contract

Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days remote)

Rate: PAYE £14.00 per hour | Umbrella/Ltd £18.12 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Start Date: 23 March 2026

Ribble Recruitment is assisting a local authority with the recruitment of two Finance Technicians to join their Financial Services team on a temporary basis to support a peak in workload.

This is a hybrid role based in Lincoln, requiring three days per week in the office and two days working remotely.

The Role

The Finance Technician will act as the first point of contact for customers, service users, and internal colleagues, ensuring enquiries are handled professionally and recorded accurately.

The role focuses on customer service, call handling, and accurate query logging, helping maintain efficient financial service operations and high standards of customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Answer incoming calls in a polite, professional, and timely manner
* Listen carefully to understand the nature of customer enquiries
* Accurately capture and record details including customer information, query type, and relevant background information
* Log and categorise enquiries using internal systems and agreed processes
* Provide guidance and signpost customers to online forms, self-service options, or the appropriate service team
* Ensure all recorded information is accurate and compliant with data protection standards
* Escalate urgent or complex enquiries to the appropriate teams where necessary
* Maintain a calm and professional approach when dealing with challenging calls
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across services to ensure enquiries are resolved efficiently
* Support continuous improvement of call-handling and query logging processes

Requirements

Essential

* Previous experience in customer service, call handling, or administrative support
* Strong communication and listening skills
* Ability to accurately capture and record information
* Good IT skills and experience using databases or internal systems
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to remain professional and calm when dealing with challenging situations
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

* Experience working in finance, local government, or a public sector environment
* Experience using CRM systems or case management systems to log queries

Additional Information

* Hybrid working arrangement (3 days office / 2 days remote)
* Based in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
* Interviews are expected to take place online on 19 March 2026
